Brief Profile

Dr Mukherjee has over twelve years of experience in policy oriented research in India and the UK. Her research interest includes services; WTO; bilateral/regional agreements; infrastructure; FDI; agriculture reforms and agribusiness investment; retail; migration; labour mobility and labour market programmes. She has successfully completed several projects for different departments of the Indian and the UK governments; international organization such as UNCTAD, WTO, ASEAN Secretariat, Hamburg Institute of International Economics, CENTAD (Oxfam), SANEI, Policy Studies Institute and Australian National University; and Indian organizations such as NASSCOM and NABARD. Her research is a key contributor to India’s negotiating strategy in services in the Doha Round. Dr Mukherjee has been a part of the negotiating team for the services negotiations in India’s bilateral agreements such as the India-Singapore CECA and the on-going India-EU Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement. She has over 50 publications including books, journals, working papers and government reports.  Her study on “FDI in Retail Sector: India” contributed significantly to the debate in this area. Dr Mukherjee has presented her research in various international and national conferences. She has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Portsmouth, UK.
