The focus of the Project  is two fold: first, to undertake analytical studies, so as to explain the WTO provisions and their implications for India in the management of economic policies, and second, to examine the issues that are taken up in the negotiations at the WTO.

In pursuance of this mandate, ICRIER has undertaken research on India specific issues with relation to the WTO dispute settlement mechanism, market access negotiations, trade liberlisation in services, trade facilitation, transparency in government procurement, trade and environment, anti-dumping, competition policy, Agreement on Textiles and Clothing, the TBT and SPS Agreements, tariff and quantitative restrictions, intellectual property rights, Agreement on Agriculture, etc.

The results of the studies have been disseminated through workshops, conferences and seminars, among the stakeholders and the general public to promote informed debate on the issues at stake.
